Mick Karn

I just learned that Mick Karn, the renowned bassist of 1980's band "Japan" fame was diagnosed with late stage cancer this fall. Please visit one or all of the sites below to purchase one of the available tribute recordings...they all donate proceeds to a fund set up on behalf of Mick's family.

A Show of Love, Respect & Grace tribute to Mick Karn:

Taking a (haiku) break

As you've probably noticed, I'm taking a little break from Haiku writing and blog posting.

If you're looking to waste a little time, check out my Roland MKS-80 and Wal Bass Links on my website at

For a *real* timewaster, you can also look for your phone number (or any other number) in my Pi Search Engine which will let you scan for any sequence within 2 billion digits of stuff!

Enjoy and drop me a note sometime!

You cannot obtain
Impossible perfection
Still, it's a good goal

Tuesday, May 27, 2008

After many years
I'm perfectly in balance
Sometimes inbalanced

Monday, May 26, 2008

Fun is subjective
Fun to one is not always
Fun to everyone

I cannot explain
A behaviour like laughter
Unsolved mystery

Empirical Absence

Absence of data
Not evidence of absence
Though may be the same

Never by design
But happy coincidence
When joy meets a frown

Thursday, May 22, 2008

Where have the bees gone
Flowers, trees, pollination
No buzzing no fruit

Sometimes I forget
My own sensibility
Sometimes remember

A long list of tasks
Things to do sometimes forget
They always find me

Monday, May 19, 2008

Do you own objects
Material possessions
Or do they own you

Different perspectives
Events seen through their own eyes

Saturday, May 17, 2008

Waiting for surprise

Spectators watch intently
Ghastly spectacle

Full Moon

Disc of white shining
No, reflecting the sun light
Brings day to the night

Thursday, May 15, 2008

Midnight Sun

Sunlight is shining
Darkness has yet to cover
The end of the day

Wednesday, May 14, 2008

Swiming abstraction
Climbing up through the food chain
Gliding gracefully

Drifting through the fog
Hiding behind the laughter
The passage of time

Monday, May 12, 2008

Words to tell stories
Phrases reused, resampled
What is new is old

So much in my mind
Filled up with data and tasks
Time to defragment

Unplug from the rush
Working to get so much done
The weekend is here

Friday, May 9, 2008

What is delivered
Is not what is expected
A disappointment

Find out something new
You see it coming but then
So surprised are you

Wednesday, May 7, 2008

Consequence and truth
Compromise, reality
Often so complex

Tuesday, May 6, 2008

Lines converge in space
Shifting position changes
Your own perspective

Monday, May 5, 2008

Remembering times
Just a romantic notion
My nostalgia

Sunday, May 4, 2008

Partly cloudy skies
Sun breaks in the afternoon
Raining on and off

Saturday, May 3, 2008

Walking in the wood
The duck quacks then is silent
Eaten by the wolf

Friday, May 2, 2008

Covering the sky
Drifting lazily around
Clouding my judgement

Thursday, May 1, 2008

Whiring chirping sounds
Flashing crashing all around
My technology

Wednesday, April 30, 2008

Constantly growing
An expanding universe
Unfolds in my hands

Found 2

Rushing moving fast
The flow of traffic speeds by
Reveals what was lost

Lost in a forest
Every tree looks the same
Stop for a picnic

Sunday, April 27, 2008

Found 1

Wake up this morning
Sun streams through a cloudy sky
Finds me wondering

Time slips through fingers
Another day forgotten
Misplaced intentions

Friday, April 25, 2008

Organic matter
Transform through a billion years
Move you in your car

Thursday, April 24, 2008

Earth Blanket

Carbon emission
Colorless invisible
Changing everything

Wednesday, April 23, 2008

Fly south then return
The weather here has improved
Unless you like sun

Tuesday, April 22, 2008

Birds fly seasons change
Leaving home then coming back
We stay where we are

Monday, April 21, 2008

A tree remembers
Each ring recalls the seasons
The passage of time

Sunday, April 20, 2008

And memories in my head
Inform my image

Saturday, April 19, 2008

Spring snow

Falling springtime snow
Freezing cold apple blossom
Waits for the warm sun

Forgot yesterday
To write my Haiku a day
Sometimes that happens
